FUNDRAISING IDEAS (SEASONAL)

MnCU4Kids challenges Credit Unions to do at least four fundraisers per year -- two internal and two for members. To keep things simple, we also suggest spacing your fundraisers and doing only one per quarter, as shown here. Click here for anytime ideas!

MnCU4Kids Reporting Form (29KB, PDF file) – After each of your credit union’s MnCU4Kids fundraisers, please send in this completed form.

 1st Quarter

Chain of Hearts Campaign
This annual fundraiser takes place around Valentine's Day and encourages everyone to purchase paper links in the shape of hearts. Hearts and links are personalized for each contributor and added to the chain hung in the Credit Union lobby. This six-week campaign usually runs from the second week of January through the end of February. Click here to get started.

St. Patrick's Day Blinkie Buttons
We have green light-up Blinkie Buttons for St. Patrick's Day this year. Purchase for $1.00 each and sell for $2.00. Contact Jenny Mayer at (320) 256-4006 or jmayers@bi-ww.com to order.

 2nd Quarter

Credit Unions for Kids Golf Tournament
Thanks to all who supported our 2011 tournament, which netted $15,600 plus a matching grant from CO-OP Financial Services, bringing the total raised to $25,600! The date for the 2012 tournament will be posted in early 2012.

Summertime Cookouts (61KB, PDF file)
Host a cookout to raise money for MnCU4Kids and get to know you members at the same time! Raising money has never been more fun!

Bunny Bucks
Actual $1 bills with a convincing holiday seal in the center. An Easter bunny seal is available in the spring. These can be saved as unique collectibles, or the seal can be removed and the money spent. It's a fun filler for an Easter basket.

Bridesmaid's Ball
Invite the ladies within your community to attend a Ball where they can wear those old bridesmaid's dresses or prom dresses and dance the night away.  Find a hotel conference room, restaurant or caterer, and a DJ to donate all or part of their services to the cause.  Charge $25 per person or $35 per couple to come and dance the night away.  Find local "celebrities" to judge different categories of bridesmaid's dresses as the ladies take part in a Grand March. Perhaps a local Bridal  business will donate dresses for auction before the event to add to the fundraiser.  Have fun with it!

Shopping For Miracles
Buy online from a participating store and they'll make a donation to Gillette Children's Hospital. Find out more!

For more ideas, check out the online CUFK Store at the Children's Miracle Network Miracle Mall!

 3rd Quarter

Miracle Jeans Day
Employees can buy stickers that give them a "free pass" to wear casual clothes to work on this day. Information about 2012 event will be posted soon.

Big Buck Contest
If your credit union has a few mighty hunters, it's time to throw your orange hats in the ring and help us raise money for a great cause.

Bowl-o-Rama
Join MnCU4Kids on Wednesday, October 26 at Star & Strikes Bowling Alley in Wyoming for the 4th Annual Bowl-O-Rama. Gather your coworkers for this bowling tourney guaranteed to be an afternoon of fun as your raise funds for Gillette Children’s Specialty Hospital. Learn more.

Safety Blinkie Buttons
The Safety Blinkie Buttons are a great safety addition to school backpacks and Halloween costumes.

These buttons also increase visibility of late night or early morning joggers, walkers, and neighborhood watch members. Purchase for $.89 each and sell for $2.00.

Contact Jenny Mayer at (320) 256-4006 or jmayers@bi-ww.com to order. View other fundraising ideas at www.bi-ww.com.

 4th Quarter

Let’s GLOW 4 Kids!
Sell Mia Bella Candles and for each candle purchased, $7.00 will be donated to Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. These high-quality candles are a perfect gift for the holiday season. More information about this fundraiser will be available in late fall/early winter.

Santa Bucks
Actual $1 bills with a convincing Santa seal in the center. They're unique collectibles, or the seal can be removed and the money spent. It's a great stocking stuffer!

Holiday Ornaments
You supply the artwork and sell the ornaments. Some credit unions are having a child's artwork contest - we'd love to hear your idea! Contact Jenny Mayer at (320) 256-4006 or jmayers@bi-ww.com to order. View other fundraising ideas at www.bi-ww.com.

Holiday Icon Program
This no-cost fundraiser lets you choose a campaign to appeal your members. If it’s a football-themed program, there’s the paper football icon; if you'd rather use the traditional balloon icon, that’s available as well. Or if it’s a winter campaign, credit unions have the choice of three icons – the snowflake, Christmas light or snowman.
